On Saturday 30th July 2022, we held our first ever Club Summer Social! We normally hold one social a year in the winter, but this year the social team wanted to try a summer social. The theme was an exotic escape to Hawaii. On arrival, club members and their families were greeted in a traditional custom, with Leis adorned around their necks and a special non-alcoholic cocktail mix.
Our dedicated volunteers made the party special, months of planning coming to life, with the beautiful Hawaiian inspired décor, displays, lots of variety of food and drinks.
It was great to see everyone in their summer and Hawaiian clothes, so relaxed and mingling in the warm afternoon. We had a photo booth area picturing a beautiful beach of Hawaii which really added to the ambiance and made for some great group photos.
The tempo turned up as we introduced some teambuilding games on the lawn, starting with adults casually showing their might over tug-of-war. They soon became strategic and louder as they entered a three-legged race, lots of tangled legs and some great finishers. Then came the children’s turn with the three-legged race – most paired with an adult which needed a few practice rounds to get some rhythm going. It was great to watch, the children and adults really had fun.
Having built up an appetite we then rounded off with cake, celebrating Play Badminton Club’s 8th birthday.

A huge thank you to all who in true Club spirit chipped in at the end to help tidy up. A special thanks to Shalini Vaghela, Nic Reyat and Kunal Maru for being part of the social team who have helped over the last few months to put it all together! Without the wonderful and continued support from all our Club members, we wouldn’t be able to host such events.
