Taster session with Oshwal Re-Active8 Embracing All Abilities

#BadmintonForAll

Play Badminton Club held a para-badminton taster session on Friday 12th April 2024 with Oshwal Re-Active8 Embracing All Abilities team. They are a local community group, based in North West London, led by volunteers who organise and run various amazing activities for the children and adults with disabilities.

This was their first session with Play Badminton Club and thoroughly enjoyed it. They had come with their parents, carers and other volunteers from the community who got stuck in and helped Play Badminton Club deliver a fun-filled engaging para-badminton taster session.

The participants learned hand-eye coordination by throwing soft balls and then progressing to shuttles. Then they worked on holding racquets with basic grips, hitting shuttles and with a bit of serving practise too!

I am very passionate about badminton and also for ensuring that badminton is an inclusive sports for all, as far as possible. Para-badminton is an adapted form of the game to ensure badminton is a sports assessable to all, regardless of physical impairments or special needs.

It was wonderful to see how everyone at our recent taster session were so engaged and enthusiastic for picking up a badminton racquet and trying it out.

An amazing group of children and great team work with Oshwal Re-Active8 Embracing All Abilities volunteers.
