Club Competition 2025
Teams Competition
#beinspired
Play Badminton Club is delighted to bring a new type of internal club competition - Teams Competition!
Each team will play other team a series of matches to determine overall ranking to see which teams progress to the knock-out stage. Players will be randomly allocated to teams based on how many enter the competition. The aim is for all players to work together as a team to help each other develop their badminton and take part in a friendly competition.
All participants MUST be active members of our Club as at 31 May 2025.
Normal badminton doubles & single game rule will apply to all games.
The team allocation draw took place on Tuesday 1st July, 8pm to 10pm, at Haydon School. The summary of the teams and their groups is noted below.
In general, there will be four players per team (with no substitutions for injured / unavailable players). Each team will play a series of matches with others teams. Each match will include four doubles rubber and one singles rubber (all best of 3 games). For example, Team A, has four players A1, A2, A3 and A4. Similarly, Team B has four players B1, B2, B3 and B4. Therefore, the matches would be as follows A1 & A2 vs. B1 & B2; A3 & A4 vs B3 & B4; A1 & A2 vs B3 & B4; A3 & A4 vs B1 & B2; and singles can be any player from Team A vs any player from team, e.g. A1 vs B3. All players in the team should do one singles match. So, for example, A1 cannot do all the singles matches for their team in the group.
Round 1 will comprise of teams playing matches against other teams in the same group. Top four teams (from each group) with the highest wins (or in event of a tie, the head-to-head results and/or points differences will be considered to determine places) will progress to the Quarter finals.
The knock-out stage include Quarters, Semis, Third place, Play-off and Grand Final all of which will be best of 3 game matches.
Please ONLY enter teams competition if you can play on Tuesday 8pm to 10pm at Haydon School AND Sunday 9.30am to 1.30pm at Bentley Wood. If you or your team (once assigned) are not able to play on the dates required, please inform us ASAP so that we can re-schedule (if possible). If not possible, you will forfeit your match and not progress any further in the competition.
Please note, other match days such as Monday & Wednesday evening 8pm to 10pm at Haydon School, Thursday evening 8pm to 10pm at Harefield AND Friday evening 8pm to 10pm at Bentley Wood MAYBE possible (subject to court availability and number of participants entering the competition). This may offer additional flexibility for the team competition, but the primary match days will remain Tuesday 8pm to 10pm at Haydon School AND Sunday 9.30am to 1.30pm at Bentley Wood in most cases.
Once a match has been arranged with another team, you must inform the Club organisers that the match has been scheduled. The results of the match should be notified as soon as possible once the match has been completed, with a picture of the score sheet.
This is an inclusive competition, and any team playing against a wheelchair user, will adopt to using the wheelchair court boundaries, and all serves will be low back hand servers.
A non-refundable competition entry fee of £12.50 per player will apply, and will be charged before the date of the competition. In addition, you will be charged the normal session fees for every session you play.
