Updated: 25 March 2020
As you will be aware, there is a significant amount of concern and uncertainty across the country right now as a consequence of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Our club has been closely monitoring the situation through news channels like BBC and Sky News and we will continue to do so. We have also sought advice from Badminton England, who have today published their update, which can be found on Badminton England website.
In summary, Badminton England says “Following the government’s announcement on Friday 20th March, directing leisure centres to close, we are advising that all grassroots badminton in England is postponed for the foreseeable future. While there is no clear direction with regards to badminton being played in other community facilities such as schools, community centres etc., we would strongly recommend the same action is taken as with leisure centres, and badminton ceases in all public facilities. “
Play Badminton Club have been in contact with all our venues where we hire badminton courts. Based on current UK Government requirements to help stop the spread of coronavrius, Play Badminton Club will not be holding any badminton sessions for the foreseeable future.
We are regularly reviewing news and information and Government guidelines on coronavirus, and will update the status on badminton sessions in due course and inform our members accordingly.
We encourage everyone to help prevent the spread of coronavirus and stay at home. Only go outside infrequently for food, health reasons or essential work. Stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people and wash your hands frequently. For further information see the GOV.UK website and the NHS.UK website.
Thank you for your understanding and stay safe.
