Senior's 50+ Doubles competition rules
All participants MUST be aged 50 years and over on the first day of the competition, i.e. 29th November 2026.
Normal badminton doubles game rule will apply to all games.
You can register as an individual or as a pair (i.e. a team). Pairing can be two men, two women, or mixed team of one man and one woman. Please note regardless of composition of teams, the competition will be run gender neutral. For example, you can get situations such as men's pair playing against a mixed pair, or women's pair. If you register as an individual, we will try and allocate a playing partner to you, if we have others who have registered as an individual. If not enough players register as an individual, you may not be allocated a playing partner and you may not be able to take part in the competition.
Round Robin stage will comprise of teams playing one match best of 1 game against other teams in the same group. The team with the highest wins (or in event of a tie, the head-to-head results and/or points differences will be considered to determine ranking) will be the group winners, and progress to the Knock-out stage.
The knock-out stage include Quarters, Semis, Third place, Play-off and Grand Final all of which will be best of 3 games.
Round 1 games will be to 21 (no setting); and all knock-out stage games will be 21 (with setting).
Please ONLY enter doubles competition if you can play on both the dates above. If you or your partner are successful in reaching the knock-out stage and then unable to play, you will forfeit your match and not progress any further in the competition.
There are up to 40 places in this competition available. Therefore, we recommend early registration.
If there is more interest than places, we may hold a preliminary qualification round to determine places in the competition. The competition will only proceed if there are a minimum of 16 teams (i.e. 32 players).
A non-refundable competition entry fee will apply, and will be charged before the date of the competition.
All participants must be active regular members of our Club.
